The MCCS, June 2010 at Rivermead
In 1999, then conductor Dr. Carroll Lehman formed the Monadnock Chorus Chamber Singers (MCCS) from an auditioned subset of Monadnock Chorus members. The group is typically made up of sixteen singers - four for each voice part. The MCCS is small and mobile enough to perform in venues which cannot accommodate the larger chorus, such as local churches, town bandstands, assisted living facilities and various municpal buildings. The MCCS is currently under the direction of Jim Sharrock. Both the Monadnock Chorus and its Chamber Singers have the following goals:
- to educate our audiences about choral music
- to encourage the community to attend our concerts
- to provide the community with the opportunity to enjoy great works of choral music performed live in their own area.
- to become a more active part of the business community in the Monadnock Region
The Monadnock Chorus is grateful for the 1999 Pride Award, given by the Chambers of Commerce in Jaffrey and Rindge. This grant was used to start the Monadnock Chorus Chamber Singers. The Monadnock Chorus Chamber Singers performs a varied repertoire - classical, sacred, madrigals, spirituals, contemporary - both a cappella and accompanied. If you are interested in having this chorus perform for your organization, contact Sandy Jackson by e-mail via the chorus' general email address or by phone at 603-525-6660.
